| A beautiful quality early 20th century Swiss strut clock with fabulous enamel and fine silver work. The dial surrounded by enamel in deep blue. The dial itself is quite superb featuring an off white basket weave background on which are painted the Arabic numerals and each minute marked with a single gold spot. The centre of the dial is marked out by a rectangle of laurel leaf design enamel and within this border with a different guilloche decoration of wave form is a fabulous handpainted bow with festoons of flowers. Within this border is the makers name " Harlys Bros Ltd". The sides of the clock are decorated in cast silver and the back of the clock very well cast in gilt bronze. The clock is fully maeked, Geneva, ARGENT DORE , numbered and with 925 silver mark. The movement is of 8 day duration. Width 3.75 inches by 2.875 inches ( 9.4 cms by 7.2 cms). Circa 1920. |
