Fine music box in engraved gilt bronze with pietra dura plaque, four tunes.

A quite beautiful and very unusual musical box. The mid 19th century French or Swiss musical movement playing four separate airs ( mostly Scottish), with trills. Excellent working order and will play continuously or one tune at a time. Set in a fabulous gilt bronze casket, stunningly engraved all over in rococco style and standing upon four lions paw feet. The lid of the casket with original mirror glass on the inside. Lid opens with a press stud to the front. The outside of the lid mounted with a pietra dura panel of musical trophies and flowers using Malachite, Sienna and other coloured marbles on a Derbyshire black marble ground. 5.25 inches wide by 3.25 inches deep by 3 inches high, the panel 3 inches by 2 inches ( 13 cms by 8 cms by 7.5 cms, panel 7.5 cms by 5 cms).
