Beautiful antique ormolu/gilt bronze 19th century Viennese miniature mirror. Set on curved legs the mirror is held between tapered columns with adjustment screws to the top and with decorated bases of leaf and dart decoration while the capitals are decorated with beading and rope twist. The mirror frame itself is decorated to the inside edge with a complex leaf and dart decoration in ormolu. Across the top of the mirror is a superb crest of leaf and berry of the finest ormolu. The looking glass appears to be original and the ormolu is 100% original and mercury gilt. A lovely object, Viennese circa 1880. While cleaning the case we removed the back to find the glass packed with a Viennese newspaper dated 1886 and copies of old invoices the only legible word being Budapest.
