Antique patinated bronze bust on black marble base of Constance Irene Morris, daughter of Ira Nelson Morris and Constance Lily Rothschild, and niece of Soloman Guggenheim. The green patinated bronze gives the piece a wonderful colour.
Anna Coleman Watts Ladd moved to Boston in 1905 and became one of Americas most important sculptors of the early 20th century. This bronze was purchased out of the estate of Gertrude Guggenheim, a cousin of the sitter, at a house sale in Sussex in the late 1960's.
